ACSSA-ALERT News Email Service
ACSSA-ALERT is an email list for news and updates from the Australian Centre for the Study of
Sexual Assault and the sexual assault field, relevant to all Australian States.
Alerts are posted fortnightly and contain announcements such as: upcoming conferences, large and small scale one off events, ACSSA publication releases, training programs, workshops, forums and seminars, calls for papers, the release of significant research reports, updates on the ACSSA website, Public lectures and much more.

How to join ACSSA-ALERT
There are two ways to join ACSSA-ALERT

to auto-subscribe to ACSSA-ALERT - your email program should open and create a message addressed to majordomo@aifs.gov.au - the message should have nothing in the subject and it must have in the body of the email the following text: subscribe acssa-alert .
Simply send this message.

ACSSA-DISCUSS Discussion Group
acssa-discuss is an email list developed to provide a forum for the discussion of sexual assault research, policy and practice issues. It is designed to promote the exchange of ideas and information, particularly in regard to strategies for improving the response to sexual assault in Australia.
Professionals working in the field of sexual assault and related areas are encouraged to join acssa-discuss, including people working in sexual assault centres, health and welfare services, policy and planning, the criminal justice system, education and training, and research and information provision.
Topics for discussion may include:
- requests for research, policy or practice information
- developments and changes to sexual assault related policy
- best practice in service responses to sexual assault
- education and training issues
- notices about upcoming conferences, workshops and events
- pointers to new publications, online papers and resources/links
Mailing Protocol
- Replying to messages: if you <reply> to a message on acssa-discuss your reply will go to the whole group, which is useful for discussions and sharing information that may be of interest to others. If you want to limit your reply to the person who sent the original message, make sure you change the e-mail address.
- Introduce yourself: we'd like to know about you and your interests.
- Please respect your fellow members and keep discussion on topic, avoiding unreasonable criticism of those with whom you disagree.
Moderation
In order to ensure that emails to the list are relevant to the stated aims of acssa-discuss, and that they conform to 'netiquette' standards (that is, respectful of others views and non-abusive), the List Owner (or delegated ACSSA staff member) moderates the acssa-discuss e-list. Specifically:
- All emails to the acssa-discuss list are electronically approved by the List Owner.
- Messages will not be accepted if they do not meet netiquette standards, are inflammatory, or breach copyright laws.
- Messages not focused on the central issues described above will be refused. Subscribers are notified if a message is to be refused.
- Messages must not contain political material.
