Youth Suicide Prevention Bulletins
The Australian Institute of Family Studies was funded by the Mental Health and Special Programs Branch of the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care to provide informational resources to people working, studying or carrying out research in fields related to suicide prevention, or to anyone seriously concerned about the problem. Five Bulletins were produced between 1998 and 2001, which can all be downloaded as PDF files.

- Bulletin no.5 February 2001 (PDF 1.8MB) includes articles on the drop in suicide rates for 1999; the Clockwork Youth Health Service; a sociocultural analysis of youth suicide; the Seasons for Growth program; youth resilience in foreign lands; use of the Kids Help Line service; and the role of social cohesiveness in promoting optimum child development.
- Bulletin no.4 October 2000 (PDF 2.4MB) brings news about government initiatives in suicide prevention, including the Living is for Everyone (LIFE) framework, and the appointment of the National Advisory Council for Suicide Prevention; the MindMatters project; the Roller Coaster project; and research findings, research reviews, and research-in-progress.
- Bulletin no.3 June 1999 (PDF 3.2MB) includes articles on community development approaches to preventing youth suicide, on the work of the Evaluation Working Group on Youth Suicide Prevention, profiles of prevention projects, and a report on a study on same sex attracted young people.
- Bulletin no.2 January 1999 (PDF 2.4MB) has three main themes: the national Stocktakes of youth suicide prevention activities; contributions from project workers; and resources for people whose work involves them directly or indirectly with youth suicide prevention.
- Bulletin No.1 September 1998 (PDF 1.1MB) includes overviews of the Youth Suicide Prevention Strategy, state and territory youth suicide prevention strategies, issues raised at a recent national conference on juvenile justice, and a number of youth programs and initiatives.
